DevOps isn’t an engineering role and you have the relationship between DevOps and SRE inverted. DevOps started as a conversation about aligning goals between Dev and Ops, but the goal was improving the entire value stream. CD depends on a DevOps operating model, but DevOps isn’t focused on CD pipeline. It’s focused on removing waste and improving feedback loops to improve value delivery. It’s how the organization works, not a job.
